Police are continuing to investigate a fatal collision on the B4275, Abercynon Road, Mountain Ash in South Wales that occurred at approximately 7:40am on 19 December 2023.
A 18-year-old man from Mountain Ash died as a result of the collision and has since been named as Jansen Jones.
His family have paid the following tribute,
Jansen’s mother Rebecca:
I am so proud to be Jansen’s mother. I’ve had so many messages from his friends past and present telling me how Jansen would give good advice to those who needed it. He was only 18 years old yet was wise and mature beyond his years.
He was the apple of my eye. He was my rock and anchor through the good and bad times. So thoughtful, polite kind & Caring.
Jansen loved keeping fit & healthy. Jansen loved being outdoors exploring the Mountains & rivers nearby. He had the zest for life & so much ambition for his future. He dreamed of success.
He was my best friend and was my eldest son. He made me the mother I am today. He was the bestest big brother ever so protective and loved being the Man of the house.
My heart is painfully broken. I miss you so much Jansen and the pain will never ever go away.
I love you so much Jansen and we as a family love you and miss you.”
Grandmother Susan:
Jansen was the eldest brother to four brothers, Jaeden, Kian, Cody, Tyler and his sister Elsie. I have been so lucky as a grandmother to see Jansen, my first grandchild born, go to playgroup, nursery school, through to comprehensive school and onto college.
He was smart, level headed, caring, the most loving grandson, son, nephew, big brother and best friend anyone could wish for, he was funny, happy go lucky, he looked out for his family and friends, but his world was his mother.
He was going out into that big wide world, to achieve his dreams and to look after her, he knew just buying a bar of chocolate would make her happy, he knew it wasn’t about money, it was about love and family, and what he got he gave back to everyone.
He was there for his friends and his family, he was a happy go lucky lad, not a chip on his shoulder. He always made me smile and laugh loads, but Jansen till the end he still made me proud.
Well Jans I held your hand for the last time, but I will hold you in my heart forever and I will see you again Love you Jans love Narnie or as you use to say Narnia
Auntie Alice:
Handsome Jansen, or Janison as we’d all like to wind him up on the daily. Jansen was tragically taken from us far too soon at the age of eighteen by doing what he loved most and that was cycling. He was a very athletic boy, took pride in his appearance and was forever on his bike. He was more than the perfect person, generous, sweet, caring and with a heart full of gold. He was our first born nephew to the six of us, the first baby of the family. The oldest to his never ending cousins & the oldest brother. We had the privilege of watching Jansen grow and achieve every amazing milestone in his very short life.
No one ever had a bad word to say about him and everyone always commented how polite and hansdome he was. He never wanted to put anyone out and would always be the first to offer help whether needed or not.
I’ll never understand nor comprehend the fact that he’s no longer here with us all but I do understand that he was far too good for this earth. We miss and grieve Jansen more than words can explain, I would give anything to listen to that deep voice whilst having our many random conversations, but we know he’s in a far better place than this tragic world. We’re all so proud of him. Jansen, we love and miss you so much. Rest in peace, forever eighteen.
