As we head towards Christmas, COVID-19 infection rates in parts of England and Wales are rising at significant rates. Some of the worst affected areas are just across the border in South Wales, however there are some signs that infection rates here may be levelling off in some parts, which will be seen as some much needed good news.

COVID-19 INFECTION RATES IN HEREFORDSHIRE AND SURROUNDING AREAS: (Data up until 17th December)

HEREFORDSHIRE: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 94.4 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 46.7 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.

SHROPSHIRE: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 94.7 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 93.5 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.

WORCESTERSHIRE: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 153.1 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 110.8 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 162 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 133.1 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.

POWYS: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 229.5 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 153.3 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.

MONMOUTHSHIRE: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 500.1 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 355.2 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.

MERTHYR TYDFIL: Current COVID-19 infection rate – 1,317.8 cases per 100,000 population. This is up from 926.6 cases per 100,000 population on the 10th December.
