COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise rapidly in Herefordshire, with over 500 new cases recorded in the seven day period ending 16th July.

The vast majority of these cases are being recorded in the 15-19 and 20-24 year-old age groups, with both age groups recording infection rates above 1,000 cases per 100,000 population (1 in 100) in the seven day period ending 16th July.

This will concern some, with the reopening of nightclubs and the majority of restrictions being lifted likely to mean that cases remain high in this age group for some time to come yet. Fortunately, the successful rollout of the vaccine means that cases in older age groups remain relatively low, with just a handful of cases recorded in those aged 75 and over during this period.

Infection rates in those aged 15-19 years-old in Herefordshire for the seven day period ending 16th July – 1,000.4 cases per 100,000 population.

Infection rates in those aged 20-24 years-old in Herefordshire for the seven day period ending 16th July – 1,040.1 cases per 100,000 population.
