An employee from Malvern Hills District Council is all set to take on a 100km trek together with a team of celebrities for a national breast cancer charity.
The epic five-day trek, which takes place from 11 to 17 June 2022, will cover approximately 100km of the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline.
Council employee Nicky Stevens will be taking on the challenge to raise vital funds for CoppaFeel, the first breast cancer charity in the UK to solely create awareness amongst young people.
The trek will be guided by Giovanna Fletcher, Sunday Times no.1 bestselling author and latest winner of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
In 2017, Nicky was diagnosed with breast cancer, resulting in a year of chemotherapy and hospital visits, now five years on since diagnosis, Nicky is ready to take on this huge mission.
Nicky was one of 100 ladies selected out of over 1000 to join CoppaFeel’s impressive trek.
Nicky Stevens, Community Development Officer at Malvern Hills District Council said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am really looking forward to trekking with a team of amazing women. It has been five years since my cancer journey and I want to acknowledge this and raise funds for a very special charity to me.
“I have been inspired by my personal experience with cancer and my drive to raise awareness about both CoppaFeel and the importance of checking your boobs!
“After my entire life was turned upside-down, I knew that I needed to come out the other end stronger for myself and for my daughters. Even though the experience was very tough, I was given a new perspective on life and how we should all live it to the fullest.”
Cllr Natalie McVey, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Health at Malvern Hills District Council said: “We are all really proud of Nicky and all that she has achieved so far in her journey. We know she is going to have an amazing experience on the trek for such a worthy cause, and we wish her all the very best of luck.”
