Could the famous Eat Out to Help Out scheme be set to return this summer?
That’s one of the things that Chancellor Rishi Sunak is considering announcing in the Budget next Wednesday, according to reports in The Daily Mail today.
Last summer, diners at restaurants and pubs across the UK could get up £10 off a meal and soft drinks. At the time, it was seen as a huge success with many pubs and restaurants the busiest they had been for several years, but some scientists linked the scheme to a rise in COVID-19 infection rates during the late summer/early autumn period.
The scheme would likely be revised if it was to return, with other options also on the table to support businesses, such as VAT cuts and even the possibility of High Street Vouchers to tempt shoppers back to the high street.
