A busy Herefordshire ‘rat run’ is set to be closed for a number of days for drainage works to take place.

The C1098 (Madley to Bridge Sollars) road is set to be closed from 5th August – 10th August according to the Herefordshire Council roadworks website. The work was initially set to take place this week but it appears to have been delayed.

A letter sent out to local residents said:

“We need to let you know about some works we’re due to do on the C1098 in Madley, from the junction with the B4352. We will be repairing a blocked drainage pipe under the road.

“Works will be taking place under a full road closure. The type of work we’re doing will mean we need to fully close the road for 24 hours each day.

“The fully signed diversion route is via the C1098 Bridge Sollars / A438 Hereford / A49 / A465 Belmont / B4349 Clehonger / B4352 Madley and vice versa.

“We will do all we can to assist with access, although there may be periods of time when access to homes, businesses or other premises will not be possible or there may be delays. You can get help and guidance from the designated marshals who are on site.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. At Balfour Beatty we work in partnership with Herefordshire Council to minimise the impact of our work and try to keep all disruption to a minimum – we appreciate your patience.

“The programme of work may change in certain circumstances, such as bad weather. This may happen at short notice and without further notification. All changes will be highlighted on the advance warning signs, which you’ll find onsite at the roadworks.
