A business owner from Hereford city centre has confirmed to Your Herefordshire this evening that planned action against Herefordshire Council’s traffic measures will take place tomorrow.

We’ve been informed that a large number of businesses that have recently backed a ‘No Confidence in Herefordshire Council’ petition, will join together tomorrow to demand further changes to the measures that they say are crippling areas of Hereford city centre.

The closure of Bridge Street to all vehicles except taxis, buses and the emergency services has led to a number of businesses in the area reporting a significant drop in takings over recent weeks.

Many of them share the same concern that footfall will drop further over the coming weeks, with children back at school. Footfall in the city centre has improved in August, with figures from Hereford BID showing an increase on the figures from July, but these figures remain 25-33% down on last years numbers in several areas of the city centre.

Specific details of the planned action haven’t been shared yet, but we’ll of course keep you updated throughout the day.
