British Land has confirmed that parking charges will be reinstated at the Old Market in Hereford from tomorrow (Friday 29th April).

British Land had said that parking charges would be reintroduced earlier this month but this was delayed, with new barriers and payment machines being installed.

Shoppers will also notice an increase in parking charges for short stays at the Old Market.

When Your Herefordshire approached British Land for a comment on the increase in parking charges, a spokesperson for the company said:

“The car park tariffs at Old Market are tied into named council owned car parks within the city as part of the development agreement within the city and we are obliged to mirror these tariffs.

“Herefordshire Council raised their tariffs last year as soon as we came out of lockdown.

“We have managed to keep prices at the lower level for the last 12 months but the council gave us until 1st April 2022 to comply.”
