The Accident & Emergency Department at Hereford County Hospital (Wye Valley NHS Trust) is currently ‘very busy’ and people should consider alternatives, according to a post shared by Wye Valley NHS Trust on Twitter.

Members of the public have reported long waits at A&E with a number of people waiting in ambulances for a number of hours before being seen.

A spokesperson for Wye Valley NHS Trust said:

“Hereford County Hospital’s Emergency Department is currently very busy.

“We’re here if you need us, but please consider alternatives – NHS111, pharmacy and GP – if it’s not urgent.”

There has been increasing pressure on the NHS over recent months, with a backlog of patients requiring treatment and the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. Your Herefordshire asks all members of the public to please respect NHS staff. They are doing their best in challenging circumstances and need the support of all of us.
