A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a collision that occurred in Herefordshire.

The collision occurred on the A4137 at Glewstone and the road remained closed for a number of hours.

West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and the Air Ambulance were all in attendance at the incident. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service told Your Herefordshire:

“We were called to reports of an RTC on Glewstone Road in Hereford just before 6.30pm. 

“An ambulance, paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a car and a lorry had been involved in a collision. 

“A female patient from the car was treated by ambulance staff for serious injuries before being airlifted to South Mead Hospital in Bristol for further treatment. 

“Two other patients were assessed by medics but did not require treatment and were discharged at the scene.”

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:

“Five Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – from Ross-on-Wye, Whitchurch, Hereford, Droitwich and Leominster Fire Stations – were called at 18:27 on 19 April to an RTC at Glewstone, near Ross-on-Wye. 

“The incident involved a lorry and a car which was on its roof. 

“A teenage male casualty had been extricated from a vehicle before the arrival of the fire service and a female teenage casualty was still in the vehicle. 

“The teenage female casualty was handed over to the air ambulance service to be transported to hospital while the male casualty was handed over to the ambulance service,who attended along with police.

“The road was closed in both directions by the police.”
