The Great Western Way footpath in Hereford has reopened this morning, following the discovery of a body on Monday.

The footpath was closed by police on Monday afternoon, following the discovery of a body between Belmont Road and Escley Drive.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police provided Your Herefordshire with a short update early on Monday evening.

“The path is currently closed after the body of a man was found near Escley Drive by Belmont Road in Hereford.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, a cordon is in place while police carry out enquiries.”

Pedestrians and cyclists were advised to use an alternative route with access to Redhill blocked, but the cordon has now been lifted.
