On Friday a member of the playing staff recorded a positive lateral flow test (LFT), and three further members of playing staff recorded Covid-like symptoms throughout the morning.
We quickly reported these incidents to the National League, and all four people undertook PCR tests throughout Friday.
With the potential that Covid-19 had started to spread within the first-team squad, and the likelihood that the PCR test results would not be received before the players would need to set out for York on Saturday morning, our Club Medical Officer and League Medical Officer agreed that the safest decision was unfortunately to postpone the trip to York City.
So far the PCR tests have come back negative (including the PCR test for the person who had recorded a positive LFT).
As a precaution, and as recommended by the Club Medical Officer, close contacts of those people who experienced symptoms have also carried out PCR tests. The entire squad will take a series of LFT tests over the coming days to ensure that the squad is Covid-free.
We are hopeful that should no further symptoms be reported and the LFT test results come back negative, then Saturday’s game will go ahead as planned. However, the final decision on this is down to the FA and National League.
We expect more information to be available on Thursday.
