Six teenagers from Ledbury are asking for local support to help them land a spot on the Lakefest line up, alongside the likes of Busted, Groove Armada and Faithless.
Known as Counterpoint, the students from John Masefield High School have entered the Road to Lakefest contest. Open to new and emerging bands and artists, the prize includes the chance to play on the Main Stage.
Aged between twelve and fifteen, the boys have already got through Round 1. They are now looking for local support in the public vote to help them get closer to their dream of performing at Lakefest this August at Eastnor Deer Park.
The boys have composed an original song called ‘Trapped’ and made their own video to support their application. To hear their music, voters can go to https://lakefest.co.uk/road-to-lakefest/, click on Round 2 and then scroll the videos – they are listed at number 5 as Counterpoint. The public voting form is at the very end of the page.
Counterpoint got together last year at the John Masefield Rock Band Club and have played regularly at the school’s open mic nights and other events. This year they have already scooped the top prize at Ledbury’s Got Talent and performed at Bromyard’s Party in the Park.
A spokesperson for the band said; ” The lads love making music and are practising every day of the week. Local votes to help them get to the next stage of the competition would mean the absolute world!”
The closing date for votes is 15 May.
