Several fire crews from across Herefordshire & Worcestershire have been called to a severe fire at a building in a Herefordshire village overnight.
The incident occurred just off the A465 (Hereford to Abergavenny Road) at Wormbridge.
Fire crews spent a number of hours at the property. National Grid were also called to the incident.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:
“Five Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Hereford and one each from Ewyas Harold, Peterchurch and Fownhope Fire Stations – supported by the water carrier from Leominster, incident support units from Tenbury Wells and Malvern plus the aerial ladder platform from Hereford were called at 21:56 on 6 April to a building fire in Wormbridge.
“This was a severe fire on the fire floor and mezzanine of a building measuring 50m by 15m used for garden machinery and repairs.
“The incident was sectorised and the fire fought by six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using one main jet.
“Water was augmented from a street hydrant. External cladding was cut away.
“The first crews attending were subsequently relieved by crews from Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Bromyard, Eardisley, Worcester and Whitchurch Fire Stations. National Grid were requested to isolate the electricity supply to the building.
“There were no casualties and no other emergency services were required.
“Two crews remain at the scene for monitoring and dampening down.”
