Enforcement officers caught Loveridge loading waste into his van from a driveway in Hereford

We have won an Enforcement case against an individual who has been found guilty of failing in his duty of care when collecting a van full of waste which he had been paid to take away from an address in Hereford.
Liam Loveridge (23) of Wilton Avenue, Kidderminster pleaded guilty to one count of failing in his duty of care by failing to transfer controlled waste to an authorised person and produce waste transfer notes at Hereford Magistrates Court on 5 October 2021. He received a fine of £120, ordered to pay costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £34.
At the hearing, the court heard how in May 2020, Loveridge had been paid £40 to take away house clearance waste from a property on Westfaling Street in Hereford. Enforcement Officers were driving by the property and saw Loveridge loading waste into his van and stopped him for a spot check. Loveridge was unable to produce a waste carrier’s license and gave officers false details when receiving notices before becoming aggressive and driving away from the scene. Officers were able to trace Loveridge quickly by his vehicle registration and re-serve the notices properly the following day at his home address. Loveridge refused to co-operate with the investigation and failed to produce any evidence of where he eventually disposed of the waste.
The maximum penalty for failing to produce waste transfer notes is a £5000 fine.
