Downing Street has said England will enter a strengthened three-tiered system of local restrictions when the national lockdown ends on 2nd December.

Boris Johnson is expected to detail his plan for winter including how families will see each other at Christmas to MPs on Monday.

The Prime Minister is also poised to announce up to a week of freedom from some COVID-19 restrictions at Christmas.

The aim is for a UK-wide relaxation of rules, reportedly from December 22 to 28, so that several families can join in one “bubble”

Number 10 said: “It will also set out how people will be able to see their loved ones at Christmas, despite ministers being clear this will not be a normal festive period.”
