Peter Dyke will be giving his popular Christmas Sparkle organ concert, in support of Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust, on Saturday 2 December at 1.15 pm.
A popular feature of the cathedral’s Christmas programme, the concert draws in hundreds of people to listen to the Father Willis organ at the start of the Advent season.
This year’s event will feature a programme of uplifting and festive favourites, performed by the cathedral’s assistant director of music.
The concert will feature large screen projection so that the audience can see the organist and the organ console, which will be suitably decorated for this festive occasion.
Peter Dyke, Assistant Director of Music at Hereford Cathedral, says: “Music is such an evocative part of Christmas, and it is always hugely enjoyable to put together a programme that includes all kinds of wonderful music that can be beautifully subtle or awe-inspiringly powerful.
“This year’s concert will show the whole range of our 4,000-pipe organ and we can promise several familiar melodies and one or two surprises too. We look forward to seeing you!”
Christmas Sparkle will take place on Saturday 2 December at 1.15pm.
Admission is free with a retiring collection in support of Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust. Everyone is welcome to attend this concert and booking is not required.
