Are you planning on having fireworks at home this Bonfire Night? West Mercia Police have shared some important advice for those planning to celebrate Bonfire Night at home this year.

From West Mercia Police:

Planning a stay home bonfire night celebration with your family this year?

Fireworks MUST cease at midnight on Bonfire night. Ordinarily fireworks cannot be let off after 11pm but for Bonfire night it’s midnight and for New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year the cut off is 1am.

Only adults over the age of 18 can buy or use fireworks. Anyone over 16 can buy, carry or use category 1 ‘throwdown fireworks’ including firecrackers. However, it is an offence to set off any category of firework in or into any highway, street, thoroughfare or public space.

Members of the public may only use fireworks on private property, such as their back gardens. Only licensed professionals can use fireworks in public places.

Used irresponsibly, fireworks can cause damage to property and do significant harm to people and animals. If you are concerned about irresponsible use of fireworks or antisocial behaviour you can report this to police online https://westmercia.police.uk/ro/report/ In an emergency always dial 999.
