The first Tenbury Wells Emergency Services 999 open day since the police moved in to share the fire station early last year proved a roaring success.
There was plenty to entertain visitors at the Worcester Road station on Saturday with the West Midlands Ambulance Service Community First Responders also on hand.
Tenbury’s on-call fire crew now boasts the environmental protection unit and welfare support vehicle among its resources.
There were various demonstrations at the free event as well as a visit from popular Urban Search and Rescue dog Radar, fire engine rides and refreshments.
West Mercia Police invited people to try a ‘beer goggles’ assault course demonstrating how drinking distorts perception.
Tenbury Crew Commander Dan Roberts-James said: “What a fabulous day we had. We would like to thank everyone for coming along and supporting our first community 999 day.
“We hope you all had a great time and it was made all the better that, despite a small shower while we were setting up, the weather held off and the sun made an appearance.
“We hope you enjoyed the various demonstrations throughout the day. Of course there was also the fire engine rides and theWest Mercia Police Beer Goggles and police hats and Martin, our fantastic local Community First Responder.
“We’d also like to thank Robin for bringing over the smoke house and other essentials and Don for bringing Radar, our lovely search dog.
“Also the volunteers who ran the recruitment stand for us and took part in the RTC demo and Tony, our HWFRS paramedic.
“A big thank you to Mikes, Moz N Muts and the ice cream van for coming along and keeping everyone happy.
“Thank you to all the traders who donated to our raffle and to Kate and Mrs B who ran it so brilliantly. We still have to confirm the amount raised but we think it’s around £250.
“Finally, a big thank you to the residents of Burford for putting up with any disruption caused by our fire engine rides as we did do quite a few laps of the village throughout the day!”
