Hereford firefighter puts best feet forward for over 26 miles in Manchester Marathon to raise money for sick children
HWFRS Watch Commander Tom Rowberry has put his best feet forward to run the Manchester Marathon and raise money for sick children.
Tom, from Hereford fire station, is raising money for The Little Princess Trust. The charity provides free, real hair wigs when children lose their hair due to cancer or other conditions.
Tom, 38 said: “It was a really warm day but I managed to complete the distance in a satisfactory 4 hours 40 minutes even though I was nursing a couple of injuries.
“This was my fourth marathon and the atmosphere was great, as well as being a superb chance to meet up with two fellow runners, my good friends and former HWFRS colleagues, Tom and Dave.
Tom, who with his wife Gemma has two children aged 7 and 5, added:
“The Little Princess Trust is a really important charity that helps children so much and we won’t stop striving until the research that we fund ends childhood cancer.
“I’ve so far raised well over £640 – my thanks to everyone’s generosity and the amount is still climbing. This will be enough to cover the cost of one wig for a young person in need.
