Hereford FC General Manager Jamie Griffiths has a busy weekend ahead, with Hereford FC travelling to Three Bridges for FA Cup action, before he takes part in the London Marathon.
Jamie will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
A short message from Jamie:
“Training hasn’t been great because of the injuries,” he admitted. “But I’ll be going there determined to soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the occasion and complete the course.
“My main motivation is to raise as much money as I can for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The hospital is very close to my heart with two of my children having undergone operations and received expert attention plus care and compassion above and beyond what was expected over a number of years.
“I’ll also be running in memory of Kaja, a close family friend, who sadly passed away at the age of just ten.
“I just want to say a big thank you on behalf of my family to the dedicated staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and this is my way of doing it.
“I know first-hand how important fundraising is for the Hospital in helping them to continue to provide the care, support and treatment that they do. Every penny raised through sponsorship is so highly valued and appreciated.”
Jamie’s marathon commitments will mean a rare absence from watching The Bulls in live action as we take a step into the unknown at Three Bridges FC in the Emirates FA Cup.
“Sadly I am going to have to miss the game as I will be collecting my running number,” he added. “I’ll be listening in, though, and hoping we can progress into the next round.
“There is a lot of positivity around the club at the moment. Attendances so far have been pleasing and the hope is that we can build upon the last few results and get a bit of a run together to continue climbing the table.
“It’s also been really pleasing to see the response we’ve had to the Fan Zones that take place outside Radford’s before home games. Seeing families and supporters of all ages getting involved and enjoying the matchday experience means so much.
“A big thank you to Cellar Supplies, Weston’s, Wye Valley Brewery and, of course, Adam Delahaye, our new Bar Manager, for making it such a success.
“Another pleasing aspect this season has been seeing how many community groups and teams have come and enjoyed being part of the day, whether that’s being in the Guard of Honour, having a Birthday Party or just taking in the game, like the RNC did on Tuesday night. Credit to the Junior Bulls and Community department for their great work on that front.”
The club is in a good place right now and hopefully Jamie will be in an equally good place when he reaches the finishing line on Sunday!
