From Hereford Community Clean Up Group:
It’s been another exceptionally busy month for HCCUG volunteers, who have again collected a staggering 854 bags of litter and spent 588 volunteering hours, pretty amazing and truly shocking to think where is all this litter is coming from?
Volunteers are now spreading far and wide, volunteers have been busy picking around Belmont, Hunderton, Castle Green, Rotherwas Relief Road, Wormelow towards Monmouth A466, Saxon Gate, Lower Bullingham, Bromyard, Withington and many other areas. Purple bags are everywhere.
Obviously, with the coming out of lockdown, volunteers are expecting to see a rise in litter unfortunately. Can we just remind everyone to respect the environment and LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE. If you going to have a gathering with friends on a recreation park or beauty spot, please remember NOT to leave it behind for someone else to collect but find a bin, if you cannot find a bin or the bin is overflowing take your litter home with you to recycle.
As a group we will be supporting ‘Earth Day’ this year on Thursday 22nd April. We would like to see as many people out litter picking as possible, during this day. If you are working, why not have a litter pick in your lunch break, perhaps on the school run pick on your way to and from school. Everyone can get involved even if it’s for half an hour, it all makes a difference.
Please remember if you see our volunteers doing a womble, please give them an appreciation toot. Thank you all for your support.
