A Hereford city centre cafe is considering late openings to offer an alcohol free space for people to meet with friends in the evenings.

Church Street Deli, which has recently opened on Church Street in Hereford, shared the following post on its Facebook page over the weekend:

“In a time where a lot of people are choosing to drink less alcohol or are looking for alcohol free options from the start of the deli planning opening late some nights was always going to be an option.

“I often look for somewhere to meet friends for a coffee after work late or simply to catch up with friends, no alcohol involved in an environment where you can chat with no music blaring.

“The deli looks beautiful in the evening all lit up and church street is a quiet and peaceful street where you can sit tucked in the corner if you wish or sit in the window and watch the world go by.

“The deli is a licensed premises and I am a licensee but for now we have no plans to serve alcohol.

“This would be a late night coffee, cake, salad, light bite, catch up space no alcohol involved!

“Let me know what you think!”

The post received a huge number of positive comments, with Amy Rogers saying:

“I’m not in Hereford, so probably a little far for me of an evening – but I just love this idea!

“I’ve personally no interest in drinking alcohol, so the thought of going out in the evening for tea and cake and a chat, or a quiet hour with a hot chocolate and a book is so appealing. Good luck with this.”

Deb Jones then added:

“Would definitely like to see this. Lots of pubs sell coffee but seem to close their machines down early so it would be lovely to see the Deli open in the evenings.

“We enjoyed some lovely cruffins from you at the weekend.”

Shelley Barber was also a fan of the idea. She said.

“I’ve been saying to my husband for ages I’d love a coffee shop to go to in evenings instead of only bars! Would love to bring a book and grab a drink!”

Church Street Deli officially launched earlier this month, with its full range of fabulous drinks and food.

Pastries are delivered fresh daily using artisan bakers locally such as Wildflower Sourdough Bakery, Alex Gooch and Peter Cooks. They also provide the bread for Church Street Deli’s fabulous sandwiches.

Salads are made fresh daily on the premises. Church Street Deli have sausage rolls, scotch eggs and quiches from local suppliers and farm shops.

Coffee is from a local roastery Kontext coffee. The cafe is Dog friendly throughout with fantastic puppuccino and ice cream!

There are also deli items on the shelves from local suppliers and unique artisan suppliers.

With a nice seating area at the back of Church Street Deli, it really is the ideal place to escape away from the busy city centre.
