Alice Edmands, aged 23 from Leominster is an amazing young woman who is setting out on 8th August to tackle an immense challenge, the Welsh Three Peaks. With a 5am start to climb Mount Snowdon, followed by a trek up Cadair Idris and ending with a tough  finish up Pen y Fan, a total ascent of 2864 metres, all accompanied by her brother George.

Alice has already been in training, greeting the sunrise at the top of Pen y Fan as well as the bad weather, making sure she is prepared for the challenge and whatever the great british weather throws at her. This was all Alice’s idea to raise money for a very special little girl. Alice has been one to one support for Annabelle, aged 4, for the past 12 months at  Beech House Nursery in Hereford.

The relationship between the two of them is very special which has meant Annabelle’s progress has been exceptional as she trusts Alice to help and guide her in everything she wants to do. Annabelle had a very tough start to life, with severe brain damage causing Cerebral Palsy.

Her prognosis was to have very limited movement or ability to communicate but Annabelle has proven everyone wrong and is a feisty, active and funny little lady who is always striving to achieve her independence despite her physical and mental limitations. Alice wanted to raise money to help Annabelle towards her independence and so it was agreed to raise money to buy Annabelle a specialist Theraplay Trike, that with support she would be able to improve her movement and have a lot of fun with her family.

Thanks to Alice’s amazing efforts and the support of both Alice and Annabelle’s family and friends the target of £1200 has already been smashed. Annabelle’s family are now looking at what further equipment can be purchased with the additional fundraising to help with Annabelle’s therapy following physiotherapists advice. Annabelle’s family just wanted to take this opportunity to highlight how proud they are of Alice for taking on this exceptionally tough challenge and thank her for her commitment to Annabelle and her future which will be so much the better for having Alice in her life.
