The cost of school uniform can be crippling for many families, so free school uniform is a god send for many.

Fortunately, community groups such as the Herefordshire Community Recycling and Reuse Group are able to help.

The brand new Herefordshire Scrap Store and Resource Centre is set to open its new Preloved Warehouse this month in Wormelow (HR2 8EQ) and it will have free school uniform rails, alongside many other items such as toys, books and board games.

Andrew, from the Herefordshire Community Recycling and Reuse Group shared the following message on Facebook:

“Let me update you all on what’s happening with the new preloved warehouse.

“It will open at 10am on Tuesday 16th January and close at 2pm.

“The rest of that week it will open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 2pm. From then on it will open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10am to 2pm.

“During those times we are also open to any donations of items you wish to drop off, so please drop off items at the roller shutter at the rear of the store.

“We have ladies and gents toilets and will have the disabled toilet fully functioning by the opening date.

“Wheelchair and pushchair ramps are available both externally and internally allowing full access to all areas.

“Our out of town drop offs will continue, I don’t have date for the Belmont drop off but will update as soon as it’s agreed.

“What we really need now are more volunteers, there were 15 of us in today but as we go into next week we would love to have around 25 each day, so please if you have some time to spare, especially with the schools going back next week, please come and help us.

“This new preloved warehouse is for all of Herefordshire, open to everyone, the amount of people now wanting to both buy and donate items is increasing every day, the amounts we have saved from landfill over the last 12 months now stands at hundreds of tons!

“All these items are either sold on for reuse in the store, or passed onto many many people across the county, helping them set up new homes after some have had traumatic experiences.

“The number of organisations we work with is also increasing weekly, all of which have the same aim to make a difference to peoples lives and it works due to the generosity of the donors of items, giving us ample stock to pass on free of charge to help those in need on many occasions.

“We have something special in Hereford, something very different and we should all be proud of what can be done by a relatively small band of volunteers.

“If you wish to donate items of furniture that are too large for you to drop off then please email us at Hereford.recycling@yahoo.com along with photos of the items, subject to availability we have a large van and drivers who can collect.

“We can also deliver furniture direct from the store to you, at an additional charge. Thank you.”

We look forward to visiting the new Preloved Warehouse in Wormelow on Tuesday 16th January. Good luck to Andrew and the team.
