A number of rail services have been cancelled due to Storm Goretti with rail users advised to check before they travel.
From West Midlands Railway:
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for heavy snow, ice and wind due to Storm Goretti from Thursday 8th January, which is expected to disrupt much of the West Midlands region.
Due to the forecasted conditions we will be operating a reduced service from 19:00 on Thursday 8th January, as we anticipate routes across West Midlands and surrounding regions will be significantly impacted.
What does this mean?
Thursday 8th January
- Birmingham New Street to Hereford – Services suspended from 14:40
- Last services:
– 12:50 Birmingham New Street to Hereford
– 14:40 Hereford to Birmingham New Street - Please note: Rail replacement services will not be available due to road conditions.
We will continue to provide updates on planned timetable changes as they are made.
Thursday 8th and Friday 9th January
We strongly advise you avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary.
Due to the nature of Storm Goretti, circumstances can change quickly and we are unable to guarantee you will be able to complete your journey.
Ticket easements are in place to allow you to travel on your existing ticket up to, and including Saturday 10th January.
If you must travel, we advise you to complete your journey before 19:00 on Thursday 8th Jan, and ensure you check your entire journey beforehand.
Ticket acceptance is available with Avanti West Coast to help facilitate earlier travel.
