CHAMPAGNE will flow when Britain’s most luxurious train pays a rare red carpet visit to Hereford on Saturday.
The 1930s Pullman-style Northern Belle, once part of the iconic Orient Express group, will travel to Llandudno, Wales’s biggest seaside resort.
Then they can choose to travel on to visit historic Conwy Castle.
It will be the only visit to the town this year by the famous train, which actor Bill Nighy described as “the Grand Dame of luxury travel” when it featured on Channel 5 last year.
But you’d better look smart if you want to catch it for a Northern Belle spokesman said: “We do prefer our passengers to dress up for the occasion.
“Most men to wear a suit and tie, while women choose an elegant dress.
“And why not? For we like to think we are not just taking them to Llandudno. We are also transporting them back to the golden days of rail travel.
“An era when nothing was too good for the pampered passenger.”
People will board the train over a red carpet laid across the station platform at 9.10am before being handed their first glass of champagne.
Then they will be served a three-course brunch during the journey to Llandudno.
After five hours to explore the Welsh seaside resort, there will be another champagne reception on board before a slap-up six-course dinner on the way home.
During the meal they will be serenaded by the Northern Belle’s resident musicians, while an on-board conjuror wanders from table to table to add an extra touch of magic.
Fares start at £495. For more details, see www.northernbelle.co.uk
