The latest edition of the renowned St Michael’s Hospice Plant Fair was the best yet with record-breaking takings and visitor numbers.

Keen supporters formed a long queue outside the Hospice’s Bartestree home on the first morning of the three-day event which is set to net the charity more than £25,000.

Across the three days, around 2,300 people visited – up by around 200 on last year’s Plant Fair.

“We’re delighted to announce that our Plant Fair was a huge success,” said Gaynor Warren, Events & Community Fundraiser at St Michael’s.

“We welcomed so many smiling faces to St Michael’s and I’d like to thank everyone who supported us by visiting.”

“As with so many events held by St Michael’s, a large part of the success is down to the commitment of dedicated volunteers. Many grew plants to be sold at the Plant Fair, while almost 100 others gave up their time to help out.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make the Fair the success it was, including our sponsors Lyonshall nurseries, and TPG Disable Aids,” Gaynor added.

The money raised will go straight towards continuing patient care and support provided by St Michael’s.

The charity, based in Bartestree, relies on community support to fund the majority of its care, with funds collected by supporters taking part in events, holding their own fundraiser, shopping in the Hospice’s retail stores and online, playing the St Michael’s Hospice Lottery, and leaving gifts in Wills.
