Previous Update (Shared Thursday evening):
Hereford Leisure Centre has been evacuated and remains closed this evening after a ‘serious threat’ was made by a phone call.
From West Mercia Police:
An anonymous call was received this evening (Thursday 23 January) making a serious threat to Hereford Leisure Centre.
As a precaution the leisure centre evacuated and contacted police, and a 200 metre cordon has been put in place as a thorough search of the area is carried out by specially trained officers.
We understand this may be alarming to the local community, and we would urge the public to stay calm and follow the advice of officers, who are there to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you.
At this stage officers are assessing the threat and therefore we are unable to provide any further information at this time, but will update you as soon as possible.
