Two Flood Warnings have been issued for Hereford city, with levels continuing to rise on the River Wye.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said:
“River levels are forecast to rise at the Old Wye Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland could begin between 5 and 7am tomorrow, 08/01/23.
“Flooding could affect properties and roads in North Hereford including Greyfriars area if the peak levels are realised. Predicted peak:- Old Wye Bridge 4.55 to 4.75m on Sunday morning. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated as the situation changes.”
