A number of national retailers have confirmed that they will be closing on Monday, so that staff can pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II.
With the day now a Bank Holiday, many companies have taken the decision to either close for the whole day, or for the duration of the funeral.
Aldi was one of the first companies to confirm that all its stores would close for the day, with rival discounter Lidl soon confirming that it plans to do the same. Sainsbury’s will also close the majority of its stores.
John Lewis and Waitrose stores will be closed, with the exception of a small number of stores in the London area.
Primark and Poundland have also confirmed they will be closed. B&Q and IKEA stores will also be closed for the day. Dunelm will also be closed.
Companies such as Tesco and Asda are yet to confirm whether they will close for the whole day, but it’s expected that stores will close for the duration of the funeral, with billions of people across the world expected to tune in.

Monday 19 September, the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, will be a national bank holiday.
This will allow individuals, businesses and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.
This bank holiday will operate in the same way as other bank holidays, and there is no statutory entitlement to time off. Employers may include bank holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement.
The bank holiday will take place across the United Kingdom.
