A High Court Judge has ruled that the life support for brain-damaged Archie Battersbee should end, as he is ‘brain-stem dead’.

12-year-old Archie has been at the centre of a dispute since he was involved in an incident at home in April. It has been reported that Archie may have been taking part in an online challenge.

Doctors from the Royal London Hospital believe that Archie’s life support treatment should end and that he should be disconnected from a ventilator.

His Mum Hollie and his Dad Paul are fighting for the treatment to continue, with them clinging to the hope that he can pull through. His Mum recently said that Archie had gripped her hand and that his heart is still beating.

The Royal London Hospital has promised to provide Archie with the ‘best possible care’ as life support is withdrawn.

His parents say that they will appeal the verdict.
