COVID-19 infection rates in Herefordshire are falling once again, following a sharp rise during the middle of August.
In the seven day period ending 27th August, infection rates were down by 21.2% on the previous week in Herefordshire, with a total of 574 new cases recorded, giving an infection rate of 296.5 cases per 100,000 population. This is down on the previous week when the infection rate was 376 cases per 100,000 population.
There has also been a reduction in the number of areas of Herefordshire that have an infection rate above 400 cases per 100,000 population. In the seven day period ending 20th August, a total of eight areas of the county had an infection rate that was higher than 400 cases per 100,000 population. This has since fallen to just three areas in the seven day period ending 27th August.
Despite the fall in new cases in Herefordshire, people are being reminded to regularly test, especially if they have recently attended a large event, such as a festival. A number of people have reportedly tested positive in the county after returning from recent festivals such as Boardmasters and Creamfields and Herefordshire Council issued the following post on Facebook to remind people to regularly test.
