COVID-19 infection rates are rising rapidly in parts of Herefordshire once again, with five areas of the county recording infection rates above 400 cases per 100,000 population. This comes as 266 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the county in just the past 48 hours.

The areas recording infection rates above 400 cases per 100,000 population in the seven day period ending 14th August:

Belmont, Madley & Clehonger: 28 new cases. Infection rate of 413 cases per 100,000 population. Up 64.7% on previous seven days.

Hereford West: 45 new cases. Infection rate of 627.3 cases per 100,000 population. Up 136.8% on previous seven days.

Hereford North West: 38 new cases. Infection rate of 408.9 cases per 100,000 population. Up 245.5% on previous seven days.

Hereford Central: 60 new cases. Infection rate of 595.9 cases per 100,000 population. Up 122.2% on previous seven days.

Lugwardine, Withington & Moreton on Lugg: 31 new cases. Infection rate of 404.1 cases per 100,000 population. Up 138.5% on previous seven days.

Latest data from NHS England also shows that the number of people at hospital with COVID-19 in Herefordshire has also increased. Data indicates that on 17th August, 13 patients had COVID-19 at hospital in Herefordshire. This is up from 11 patients on the 10th August.

Data from NHS England also indicates that there have been further COVID-19 related deaths at hospitals in Herefordshire (Wye Valley NHS Trust). Data shows that two further deaths were recorded on 12th August, taking the total number of COVID-19 related deaths at hospitals in Herefordshire since the start of the pandemic to 232.
