COVID-19 infection rates remain low in Herefordshire, with no signs that the Indian variant of the virus is spreading through the community.

The variant has been confirmed in Herefordshire, with seven cases linked to an outbreak at a farm. However, despite community spread of the variant in other areas of the United Kingdom, there is currently no evidence of such a spread in Herefordshire.

In the seven days ending 18th May 2021, Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate was 20.7 cases per 100,000 population, this is UP on the 15 cases per 100,000 population that was recorded in the seven days ending 11th May.

The areas that recorded the most cases in the seven day period ending 18th May were: (Infection Rates per 100,000 Population in Brackets)

Lugwardine, Withington & Moreton on Lugg – 3 new cases (39.1)

Hereford South West – 7 new cases (84.6)

Penyard, Llangarron & Goodrich – 3 new cases (24.9)

Hereford West – 7 new cases (97.6)

Hereford Central – 5 new cases (49.7)
