One of the UK’s most famous racehorse trainers is offering a rare glimpse inside her renowned Herefordshire stables.
Venetia Williams will welcome a limited number of horse racing followers to her Aramstone home in Kings Caple on Sunday 21st November.
Those attending the exclusive morning will even have the chance to bid for shares in one of the trainer’s horses with the newly-formed Hereford Racecourse Owners’ Club.
Proceeds from the day will go to Bartestree-based St Michael’s Hospice, which provides palliative care to families living with a terminal illness across Herefordshire and beyond.
“I’m really excited to welcome people here for what should be a fun morning,” said Venetia.
“Most importantly though, I’m delighted this event will be raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice, which is a charity we all like to support and one which does wonderful work in our community.”
The rare opening will give visitors the chance to tour the stables which housed Grand National winner Mon Mome, among many others.
Venetia will pull out a selection of her best horses for guests to view, accompanied by a commentary on each horse’s plans for the forthcoming season.
Those attending can also watch Venetia’s horses training on the gallops, before taking part in an auction for St Michael’s with lots including hospitality at Cheltenham, plus the chance for a couple to spend a morning shadowing Venetia at Aramstone, followed by an afternoon at the races.
Another highlight of the morning is set to be The St Michael’s Dash, a wheelbarrow fun race featuring jockeys and St Michael’s representatives.
“We feel very honoured that Venetia is opening Aramstone for St Michael’s,” said Simon Kershaw, the Hospice’s Events and Community Fundraising Officer.
“We’re confident this will be a day to remember and that everyone attending will enjoy the company of this prestigious trainer.
“At St Michael’s we rely heavily on the support of our community, and it is through events like this that we are able to continue providing our care free of charge whenever families require it.”
The event, sponsored by bookmakers Fitzdares, will feature coverage from Racing TV as part of the channel’s ‘This Racing Life’ series, helping St Michael’s reach a national audience.
