A talented young Herefordshire athlete will travel to Utah in the United States at the end of October to compete in the Ironman World Championships.
Aoibh Clarke has just completed her first Ironman 70.3, which consisted of a 1.2 mile swim, 59 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run.
She smashed this with a time of 5 hours and 25 minutes, winning the first place title in her category (18-25).
As a result of this, she has qualified for the World Championships in Utah, United States of America at the end of October. She has been training in triathlons from a very young age and it has always been her main passion.
Her family and friends are proud of her competing at a national level amongst some of the best athletes in the country!
An achievement like this has always been a massive dream of Aoibh’s and she now has the opportunity to fulfil it!
Her brother Lorcan has set up a GoFundMe page to help support Aoibh’s trip to the USA.
He said, ‘Our parents were able to pay for the entry to the race, however the overall cost of going to the USA as well as accommodation and food is going to cost more than doing a race in England!’
’Due of this we have set up a ‘Go Fund Me Page’ to help with some of the costs as she is currently saving money for university in September.
‘Aoibh has dedicated her life to training for this and is excited for the opportunity to race the best people in the world!
‘Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will massively help Aoibh in her journey to hopefully getting her Pro licence in the future.’
‘I am a very proud brother.’
