Over 1700 children and young people are set to attend one of the biggest county sporting events of the year! The Herefordshire Summer School Games Festival is returning to Halo Leisure Centre in Hereford on Wednesday 2nd July.

Stride Active and Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire are delighted to be welcoming children and young people from 61 schools to the event for a day of fun sporting events and alternative forms of physical activity.

On the day, attendees can take part in a wide range of activities such as skating, rugby, cheerleading, football and much more.

The event is also supported by 250 young leaders from 10 schools and colleges in Herefordshire, who will be on hand to coach the participants and be their champions throughout the day.

Beky Williams, Managing Director of Stride Active, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming over 1700 children and young people to the Herefordshire Summer School Games Festival.

“It is a true celebration of sport, providing young people with an inclusive and fun environment to represent their school, try a new physical activity and be part of a community event.

“Young people will take part in an opening parade, just like in the Olympics, before taking part in competitive and participation activities, all whilst demonstrating the School Games values.”

Stephen Brewster, Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire CEO, said: “We are delighted to be bringing another Summer School Games event to the children and young people of Herefordshire.

“These events serve to bring positive experiences of physical activity and sports at a young age in order to form positive lifelong habits.

“A lot of hard work goes into making these events happen, so we are very excited to get going and hopefully create some lasting memories for all.”

Hoople Group will be returning as the event sponsor, running their own activity on the School Games Arena.

Based in Hereford, Hoople Group proudly support communities by delivering a range of support services to our local authority and NHS shareholders, schools and academies, private sector businesses and charities.

Audrey Clements, Chief Executive Officer at Hoople Group, said: “Supporting our local community remains at the core of our business, and we are thrilled to continue our sponsorship of an event that is so inspiring to the participants, young leaders and beyond.

“We are certain that this year will bring another fantastic event, and we look forward working with, and supporting many schools across Herefordshire for years to come.”
