A memorial match will take place this Saturday to remember a Herefordshire teenager who sadly died ten years ago.
Marcus Powell, aged just 16 at the time of his death, died after being involved in a collision with a vehicle travelling on the road between Kingstone and Clehonger.
Marcus was a much loved member of the community, with many of his friends and family set to come together on Saturday evening to remember him. The match will take place at 6.30pm at Hereford Pegasus Football Club.
Here’s a few words from one of the organisers, Sean Arrowsmith:
“After 10 years, the Marcus Powell memorial game will be taking place this Saturday, with a 6.30pm kick off at Hereford Pegasus Football Club.
“The gates will be open for spectators to come in from 5.30pm. The schools in which Marcus attended, Kingstone High School and also The Hereford Academy, in which he did a placement at will be taking part in a football match with the players who played in the original fixture 10 years ago.
“All proceeds will be going to St Michael’s Hospice. A huge thank you to Pegasus for letting us use their facilities. On the day the bar will be open for refreshments and there will also be a raffle being held with lots of prizes to be won!”
