Hereford FC have this evening issued a statement following reports of homophobic abuse at Edgar Street this afternoon.

The Bulls lost the fixture against Darlington 2-1 and the supporter was ejected from the stadium after comments were aimed at a Darlington player.

From Hereford FC:

“Hereford FC can confirm that an allegation of a supporter making homophobic comments towards a Darlington player during today’s game has been received.

“We have immediately launched a full investigation and will work alongside West Mercia Police and Darlington FC to establish what happened, and we are therefore appealing for witnesses to come forward with information of today’s incident.

“If you were witness, please email Hereford FC General Manager, Jamie Griffiths jgriffiths@herefordfc.co.uk with details. Information received will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

“Hereford FC will not tolerate any form of homophobic abuse and anyone found guilty of using such language will be banned from Edgar Street.”
