Former Hereford United striker Ivan Hollett has passed away aged 81. He had previously played for Mansfield Town, Chesterfield, Crewe Alexandra and Cambridge United.

Hollett arrived at Edgar Street in January 1972 for a fee of £2,000

He was cup tied during the incredible FA Cup run of the 1971/1972 season, but played a part in the promotion to the old 4th Division as Hereford finished 2nd in the Southern League.

He would score Hereford’s 3rd ever Football league in a 3-0 win over Reading on the 19th August 1972.

He would leave Hereford later that season and signed for Poole Town and then linked up with Durban City and would later play for Alfreton. In the 1990’s Ivan returned to Mansfield Town to become youth team coach.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
