Former Hereford United player Joe Laidlaw has passed away aged 71. Laidlaw previously played for Middlesbrough, Carlisle, Doncaster Rovers and Portsmouth.
Laidlaw was signed by Frank Lord and arrived at Edgar Street in late 1980 from Portsmouth. He played 62 league games for the Bulls over two seasons. He later joined Mansfield Town and then returned to the South Coast to manage a variety of non league clubs.
During Laidlaw’s time at Edgar Street he played in the two legged Welsh Cup final where Hereford were defeated 2-1 by Swansea City on aggregate. He also played against Leicester City in the 4th round of the FA Cup in January 1982.
