Racing returns to Hereford Racecourse this Tuesday for a seven-race card, which features four hurdle races, two steeplechases and a bumper.

Read on for a preview of and tips for the Hereford card, courtesy of Betway.

The action begins with a two and a half mile novices’ hurdle (12.15). Justice Served, trained by Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies, is the only newcomer in the field of nine. A nicely-bred sort, he could be one to keep an eye on as the season progresses. Noahsgreatrainbow could prove to be better than his last start at Newton Abbot, but impressive last-start winner Montemares is the one to beat on form at present.

A two-mile novices’ hurdle follows (12.50). The newcomer here is Lully Du Houx, trained by Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls. Ben Pauling’s new recruit is Four Springs, who won his maiden point-to-point in very impressive style, beating his seven opponents by 22 lengths, and he makes plenty of appeal for a yard in form on his Rules debut.  Warren Greatrex’s Liam Mera Kai has shown promise so far and could pick up a place.

Next is a two-mile novices’ handicap chase (1.25). Course and distance winner Chestnut Pete is just two pounds above his last winning mark now and could go well, while last-start winner L’Empire Vert still looks competitive, raised just two pounds. Given five pounds once again by Callum Pritchard, he could win again if taking to the chase track here.

Race four is a handicap hurdle run over two and a half miles (2.00). Kayley Woolacott’s Our Dylan should have a chance, having won his last start but stays on the same mark, given five pounds by Callum Pritchard. Mickey Bowen’s Gavin could be down to a winnable mark now, but might be better suited to a shorter trip, while The Secret Pearl should also be considered, given five pounds by his rider after a good reappearance last time at Plumpton.

A handicap chase follows, run over three miles and a furlong (2.35). Wind surgery prior to his stable debut for Sam Allwood appeared beneficial for Concetto, who was a close second last time out at Ludlow and could run another good race, now with a run under his belt. Emma Lavelle’s The Long Point could also be a factor, provided his newly applied cheekpieces prove effective.

The sixth race is a two-mile mares’ handicap hurdle (3.10). Tom George’s Harthorpe could prove to be a different horse, having had wind surgery, while James Evans’ Jammy Jay looks a positive one after a decent showing last month. Jamie Snowden’s Ride Like A Girl makes her handicap debut here, but topweight could be a difficult starting point. The consistent Granny Hawkins may have a better chance.

Finally, racing concludes with a two-mile bumper (3.45). With a number of debutants in the mix here, this won’t be an easy race to judge, but David Pipe’s winning point-to-pointer Indulto Rouge makes plenty of appeal, having won his amateur race by 18 lengths. Western Cross looks promising too, having been narrowly beaten in a bumper last month, representing a yard in good form.
