Pegasus Juniors entertained Mangotsfield United in an uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division fixture at the KGD Stadium.

The hosts were victorious in a three goal game in the reverse match earlier in the season. The visitors were now in a rich vein of form having won six of the last seven matches.

Pegasus made two changes from last week, Jack Oxenham was promoted from the reserves replacing James Behan, who was unavailable and, Jordan Williamson replaced the suspended Carlos Moreira.

In the opening stages Mangotsfield showed the form that produced the recent victories, forcing Pegasus to play much in their own half however, it was the hosts that made the breakthrough. An excellent ball into the box from Curtis Townley was deftly headed home by leading scorer Cawley Cox past the Mangos goal minder Jakob Glover.

This seemed to ignite the visitors, six minutes later Oxenham made a decent save low to his right at the expense of a corner to deny a Simon Prangley free kick. The corner kick was cleared by Pegasus but, Karem Karakus, gained possession before crossing to Kyrese Morrison who missed the goal from close range.

Shortly before the interval, the Pegasus gloveman was required to make another great save from a Prangley free kick.

Inside thirty seconds of resumption, the teams were level, when Will Ashton crossed from the left, Karakus scored from close range.

In the fifty ninth minute Pegasus regained the lead. Jordan Williamson took a free kick from outside the corner of the penalty box. He was able to get the ball up and over the defensive wall into the net. Half an inch higher or wider and the ball would have rebounded to safety.  Glover made a desperate attempt but, he was well beaten.

There was plenty of exciting action from both sides but, little goalmouth action. Pegasus gave a debut to Louis Williams, a product of the youth system. This season he has graduated into the u18’s and second team.

This game was sponsored by Steve Griffiths Old Boys, who selected Jordan Williamson as Player of the Match. Â
