MandM Direct recently donated over 300 pairs of football boots to the Herefordshire FA as they look to give something back to the community. The donations will make a big difference to families and individuals by making sure they don’t miss out on playing on the new 3G facilities that we have in Herefordshire.
Herefordshire FA CEO Alan Darfi said; “it is fantastic to receive such a generous donation from MandM Direct. The boots will really make a difference in terms of supporting the 10,000 people across Herefordshire regularly involved in football activity, particularly ensuring individuals without boots can access our wonderful 3G pitch facility at the County Ground. It’s great to work with an organisation the size of MandM Direct and we’ll look forward to exploring further ways we can help them to help their local community’’
On the 22nd of February 2020 the Herefordshire FA set up a new project called the ‘HFA Boot Bank’ which was put in place so that we could look to support individuals and families who may be from deprived areas of the County. Herefordshire is in the seventh most deprived decile of upper tier authorities, compared to other neighbouring counties. Herefordshire (97th), Worcestershire (105th), Shropshire (110th) and Gloucestershire (124th).
HFA Football Development Officer Scott Russell added “MandM Direct donation is simply brilliant and will have a big impact to the footballing community. It’s so important for us to build good working relationships with local companies and the fact that MandM Direct, who are now international, they still want to invest time and money to support local charities or organisations. It’s important to understand that some people’s old boots can be reused and given a new lease of life for other people who want to play football. ”
Since the Boot Bank was set up the Herefordshire FA have managed to help several individuals from junior, senior and disability football, allowing players the opportunity to play football knowing they have correct footwear that can be used on grass and 3G pitches.
MandM Direct Customer Director, Tom Goode said about their donation; “As a sports-obsessed local business, it is our pleasure to support the Herefordshire FA’s Boot Bank by donating over 300 pairs of brand new adidas football boots. We strive to keep our prices as low as possible, but we also know that it is not always possible to buy new football boots and so we’re thrilled to be able to support those who need them most; going some way to helping both children and adults play the beautiful game.”
