After completing a successful trial period with The Bulls, we’re pleased to confirm that former Hereford United midfielder, James McQuilkin has returned to Edgar Street.
McQuilkin made over 70 appearances for Hereford United between 2009-2013, before moving on to League One, Walsall.
Speaking shortly after signing for The Bulls, McQuilkin said: “I’m really happy to be back at this club, I’ve got a lot of good memories here and I’m looking forward to getting going.
“I’ve had a good pre-season and settled in well with the lads, it’s been nice to be kicking a ball again and I’m really looking forward to getting going on Saturday.”
Since leaving Edgar Street McQuilkin has also featured for Torquay United, Kidderminster Harriers and AFC Telford United in the National League and National League North. “I’ve played quite a few games at this level and I like to think I know what it’s about. I’ve got a fair amount of experience at this level, hopefully, I can use that to push this team forward.”
Speaking about his arrival, Bulls boss, Josh Gowling said: “James came in the first week of pre-season, he’s been brilliant, very comfortable on the ball, good in possession and can play in a couple of positions which is really good.
“One of the biggest things we didn’t have last season was consistency, and we’ve tried to build a core of lads that will give us a consistent performance each week.
“James really brings us that consistency and his ball retention is excellent which helps us hold on to the ball for much longer which is exactly what we want.
“I’m really pleased to see him return.”
