It’s set to be a busy end to the season for Westfields Football Club, with the Allpay Park outfit reaching two cup finals.
Fields reached the final of the Herefordshire County Challenge Cup earlier this month, beating Alcester Town 2-0 in the Semi Final.
They will now face AFC Kempsey in the final at Edgar Street on Wednesday 9th April (7.45pm kick off).
However, it will be Tuesday nights comeback that will impress manager Nick Morgan the most, with Fields going behind after just 50 seconds, when Mangotsfield United took an early lead in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup semi final at Allpay Park.
The lead didn’t last long, with Fields soon back on level terms thanks to Drew Heffernan’s thumping header. Fields then took the lead, thanks to a smart finish from forward Ben Brooks.
It was a scrappy second half, with Mangotsfield United pushing for an equaliser, but good work from the Fields defence and Shay Sterry in goal, ensured that Fields would reach the final, where they will face Cirencester Town, in a tie that will be played over two legs.
Fields are next in action on Saturday, where they host high-flying Roman Glass St George at Allpay Park in a 3pm kick off.
