Hereford Lads Club will make history tomorrow, when the club makes its FA Cup debut with a home tie against Haughmond at The County Ground.

It’s safe to say that the club is buzzing with excitement and we’ve been speaking to forward James Hancocks, who’s performances have impressed during pre season.

YH: Well, it’s arrived, Hereford Lads Club’s first game in the FA Cup. How do you feel?

JH: Very excited and looking forward to it, for most of us this our first time playing in the FA Cup, so we want to make the most of the opportunity and give everything we’ve got to get the win.

YH: You suffered defeat in your opening league game on Tuesday, are you confident of bouncing back?

JH: We are a team that never gives up and always finds a way to bounce back. As a team we know Tuesday was disappointing and we can play much better than that. Hopefully Saturday we can put in a performance in front of a big crowd and show everyone what we’re about.

YH: Haughmond represent a tough challenge for you. Do you know much about them?

JH: Not really no, they were in our league a few years ago and were strong then so expect no change really. It’s going to be a strong test.

YH: You’ve played well yourself during pre season and seem to be in good shape for the season. Are you feeling confident of being amongst the goals?

JH: We’ve got many lads in the team who can score goals which is good. As a forward player I always back myself in front of goal.

YH: Which player has impressed you during pre season?

JH: Kalum Wildig has been very impressive this pre season being able to play CB and CM is a huge bonus to the squad. Also Belly seems to just get better with age now, making some great saves.

YH: Saturday is huge for Danny Moon and the club itself. Does that put pressure on the team to perform?

JH: Of course there’s pressure but as shown in previous big game results, we are a side that thrives off it and know how to get up for big games!

YH: If, by some miracle, Lads Club made it to the 1st Round of the FA Cup, which team would you like to draw and why?

JH: Got to be Sunderland, a huge club? Followed by a night out in Newcastle. (Maybe a few nights) think our lads would love that.

YH: Worst drinker at the club?

JH: Cameron Godsall or James Fennesey often have 3 pints then disappear home. Also the gaffer Mooner, gets shown up a lot by his squad.

YH: Player you like playing alongside the most?

JH: Adam Hockey and Olly Price. Two great lads on and off the field. Played together for 10 years so know each other’s game very well!
