Former Hereford United manager Martin Foyle has joined National League side Carlisle United as Head of Recruitment.

A statement on the Carlisle website said.

Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Foyle as the club’s Head of Recruitment. 

Foyle has left his role at St Mirren to join up with the Blues and has previously been Head of Recruitment at the likes of Morecambe, Northampton and Motherwell.

With over 500 games under his belt as a player at clubs including Southampton, Blackburn, Oxford United and Port Vale, and over 400 games as a manager at the likes of Port Vale, York and Hereford, he brings huge amounts of football experience to the club. 

Chairman, Tom Piatak said: “I sat down with Martin personally during the recruitment process and was immediately impressed by both his footballing acumen and his calm, thoughtful demeanour.

Foyle was the manager at Hereford United from 2012-2014, his first season saw the Bulls finish 6th, but the 2nd season was beset with financial trouble at Edgar Street and Foyle departed the club mutually in March 2024 with the club entrenched in a relegation battle.
