Cawley Cox grabbed his 18th goal of the season as Hereford Pegasus beat Worcester Raiders at Sixways on Saturday in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Pegasus returned to winning ways at the magnificent Sixways Stadium, Worcester.

This is venue where the visitors have been successful in the last three meetings, scoring nine goals without reply.

The hosts shaded the opening exchanges without ever threatening to trouble the visitors.

In the nineteenth minute, Pegasus scored, Cawley Cox out paced the home defence to a through ball, before rolling the ball past the advancing goalkeeper Thomas Hayward. This being his eighteenth uhlsport Hellenic league goal of the season. The remainder of the first period was a fairly even affair.

In the fifty first minute the home team gained a free kick, this was taken by former Pegasus player Curtis Townley, the ball was met by the head of Jordan Stoddart, the home supporters started to cheer for a goal however, Matt Gwynne produced a match winning save to push the ball over the crossbar.

At this point of the game the visitors struggled to get out of their own half however, despite the amount of possession, Danielle Reka testing Gwynne was the only other moment of concern. Shortly afterwards, Cox raced in the Raiders penalty box but, he was unable to get his shot on target.

The remainder of the half was fairly uneventful with both defences dealing adequately with any threats.

Deep into additional time Carlos Moreira broke clear of his marker, he raced into the penalty area before guiding the ball past the advancing Hayward.

This win took Pegasus past the notional “safe from relegation“ mark of 40 points.

Next Saturday, 17th February, Pegasus entertain Tuffley Rovers at the KGD Stadium, with a kick off at 3pm.
